Absolute Property Services have sponsored Shannon Walton on a trip to represent her school in April 2014 by traveling to Durham, North Carolina, USA.
Shannon aged 15 attends The Voyager Academy, Peterborough. She’s currently working towards the end of her final year at the academy, tackling those all-important GCSE exams. This can be a huge strain on any young individual but Shannon is exceeding herself as always and striving to achieve more. She hasn’t only got to deal with the end of school exams but she was chosen by the academy as one of the candidates to travel across the world and represent her school.
This exciting opportunity arose from a much unexpected response to a tweet Shannon’s teacher made; it in turn revealed there is also The Voyager Academy in Durham, North Carolina. Both schools conversed and agreed it would be a great cultural opportunity to arrange a student swap.
Shannon was advised she needed to raise £1134 for this trip, not an easy task for any 15 year old. She set about organising funds by bag packing and organising Christmas quiz etc. Anything that she thought would gain her the funds she needed she done. In spite of her best efforts it was a difficult and daunting task for any 15 year old to take on, Absolute Property Services Group came to the rescue.
Shannon’s mum works for Absolute PSG and told the story of her daughter’s ambition. Absolute came through and organised sponsorship so that this trip was successful.
We now look forward to hearing Shannon’s stories about trip. She is due to travel April 2014, and we are excited and proud to have had the chance to sponsor Shannon, a brilliant bright and well deserved Ambassador for The Voyager Academy – Peterborough.
Keep your eyes peeled for Shannon’s next story.
